We have WAY too many boxes, so what better way to celebrate unpacking than Box Car races. We have wood floors, so it works nicely to cruise through the hallways, but even on carpet, your little one will love a spin around your house. There isn't much to it. You can get as creative as you want or keep it simple like us if you have limited time. We just grabbed the only Sharpie we could find and pretty soon our box was a little motorcar.
Inspiration for box fun came from our friend Kelly who put all of her Costco boxes to good use when she got home from shopping the other day. She made her darling littles a cardboard castle. Then just a couple of days ago, Audette was visiting a friend and when I came by to pick her up they showed me the little car they had made out of a box. We have enough boxes at home that we can make a cardboard train or a spaceship or a skyscraper! Basically, you should come visit and play with us.
Growing up in the Air Force we moved often and my Mom would make us houses out of the taller wardrobe boxes. She cut a door and windows and would use markers to draw shutters and flowers in window boxes below the windows. We spent HOURS playing in those houses. I also did that for the boys when they were little and we moved. They didn't care so much about the flower boxes, but they had fun!
ReplyDeleteAunt Shauna,
DeleteI bet the boys loved the flower boxes, even if they didn't let on. :)
We will have to make some houses out of our wardrobe boxes. They are just the right size for Audette!

Good idea. We are in the same boat of course. I think I am just to wiped to even think about making anything from boxes. Tomorrow is our "home" day, so maybe that is what we will do.

Stephanie,
DeleteGood luck unpacking. I am realizing that I won't get through our boxes for a long time. We just need breaks at our house! Hope you guys have a fun "home" day.
